Fire-rated ducts
Swart & Sons are Adelaide's leading fire-rated duct installation contractors. We have unparalleled knowledge of cutting edge technologies from Australia and overseas.
VErmiculite spray on Ducts
Sprayed ductwork is still successfully used on many projects. It involves the pinning and meshing of ducts and then spraying with Vermiculite usually to a depth of 48mm for two hour fire protection. The benefit of Vermiculite is that it is inexpensive and can maintain up to a four hour rating on fire rated ductwork. This is often sufficient to achieve the required rating.
Fire-rating power cables
Insurance companies sometimes require public buildings to have power cables fireproofed. This involves the application of a fire-rated coating directly onto the power cables.
Ablative Cable coatings
Ablative cable coatings are sprayed on the surface of cables to ensure they can keep functioning for a specified period of time during a fire, especially if their supply is of vital importance.
The coating has a mild insulation effect that dramatically reduces the speed of the flame across the surface.
Cafco
Cafco is a lightweight coating that provides very efficient fire resistance with minimal thickness to structural steel, concrete frames, metal floor and roof decks that can be troweled or sprayed on. It is manufactured in Australia and is the preferred vermiculite spray product used by passive fire applicators all around the world.
